TITLE: Far fom men
"Walking. Climbing. Climbing again. Higher and higher. And then what?" — The summit of the gods
And then you find yourself far from everything, from any landmark. Close to what has always been there, and will always be there. Rather than seeking vanity through the success of the conquest, let us stay as long as possible to experience this landscape differently. Graphic works, delicate shades and compositions of lights and shadows appear before our eyes. The mountain becomes a mysterious place again, where humans are not all-powerful.
AUTHOR: Julien Che (France)
In Julien Che’s photography, which shifts between colour and subtle nuances of greyscale, we first notice a fondness for texture and relief which reveals a particular sensitivity to shape and form; an approach refined during Julien’s education at ENS Louis-Lumière following a Bachelor in Art History. His series, full of depth and density, fall within a temporality far removed from the hustle and bustle of relentless consumerism and media over-exposure. The stillness of his landscapes reflect an active detachment from the transient and frenetic contemporary world, opposed by the stark silence of the high altitudes audible in his images. Abandoning any pretence of objectivity, Julien’s approach stresses his own perception, conveying through his images the sentiments evoked by what he sees through the lens.
