TITLE: IDIOMS
I aimed to create a photography series that would bring joy and laughter to my audience. This led me to explore idioms—those unique linguistic gems that are deeply embedded in every culture. As I contemplated how to evoke genuine emotional responses through my work, I reflected on the challenging times I faced in Hong Kong. During those periods, I often found comfort and humor in memes and idiomatic expressions. They provided a whimsical escape from the uncertainties that surrounded me.
This personal experience inspired me to translate these idioms into visual art. My goal was to transform these phrases into images that capture their essence, creating a series that not only entertains but also resonates with the viewer on an emotional level. This project became a creative endeavor to blend language, culture, and visual storytelling.
