TITLE: SCULPTING MANHATTAN

Sculpting Manhattan, is a series that explores the relationship between a stereotomic mass (Manhattan) that is sculpted giving shape to the current urban fabric and is understood as a maximized volume, given by regulations and the real estate market as represented in the famous drawings by Hugh Ferris . This mass is represented in contrast to the voids generated by empty plots. Understanding the Void-Mass relationship in the way that Eduardo Chillida or Jorge Oteiza, Basque sculptors, developed in the twentieth century, the pictures that make up this series are shown in Black - White, emphasizing the dual dialogue and relationship between the massiveness of the sculpted forms and their absence.

Lives and works in New York.
He is a Spanish architect and photographer specializing in boutique architectural design and
visual narratives.
As can be seen in his work, his profession as an architect has an enormous influence on his
way of looking and therefore understanding photography. His interest is usually centered
around urban spaces and architecture as project triggers. Abstraction, light, texture, materiality,
composition and color are some of the themes he works with. He understands photography not
so much as a figurative discipline, but with the abstract beauty that characterizes other plastic
arts. Harmony, proportion and rhythm are also key arguments in his work.
He currently works in New York as a designer and architectural photographer and his
photographs have been published in several digital magazines. Several of them will be
included in the New York 2020 book to be published in 2025. As a result of his professional
activity, he has had the opportunity to be a guest lecturer at the New Jersey Institute of
Technology on several occasions.
Among the numerous exhibitions in which he has participated are the group exhibition Art by
Architects at the Center for Architecture in New York (2023), the solo exhibitions Miradas,
Gestos, Pensamientos at the Centro Cultural de Santurce (together with Carlos Diaz del Rio,
2022) and the Centro de Humanidades de la Sierra in Madrid (2019), as well as group
exhibitions at the Casa de la Cultura de Sestao (2016), Casa de la Cultura de Barakaldo (2015),
Monasterio de San Juan in Burgos (2013), Paul Ziarsolo Gallery (2012), Artis Gallery in
Salamanca (2013,2012,2011,2010).
