Stockton Sand Dunes, Birubi Beach, NSW
In a world of big things, there are few as striking and as monumental as the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes in the Worimi Conservation Lands stretching from just north of Newcastle NSW to the Southern end of Port Stephens.
The beautiful sandscape is forever changing. Created thousands of years ago, the largest moving coastal dunes in the Southern Hemisphere are spectacular. The Stockton Bight Sand Dunes, in the Worimi Conservation Lands, cover 4,200 hectares, 1,800 of which are forest, as well as 32kms of the longest moving sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. These truly awe-inspiring dunes reach heights of over 30 metres with slopes of up to 60 degrees to form a majestic landscape are ideal for sand-boarding, an exciting activity all year.
Given the above description from a Travel Website of this amazing location, I decided to visit and try and capture some of what this amazing place was all about, I entered the sand hills from Birubi Beach on the northern side and little did I realise how many dunes I would have to cross over as I continually attempted to capture a composition I was happy with. That was until I came this the corner of one dune, looked up the rise and saw what instantly looked like a man on bended knee proposing to a woman. I took the shot and instantly had the name for this composition.

Photography for me is about the world around us and its people. Capturing these places and people as moments in time and being able to reflect on those memories created in the digital world and bringing these to life in Print, Canvas and on Digital film. See less
