TITLE: i sleep naked
This photograph is taken from a haute couture series made for the Italian magazine BOOKAMODA.
The model is dressed in a Giorgio Armani Privé outfit. The magazine had asked me to be inspired by the sculptural art of the Roman Baroque. While doing research I rediscovered the love letters between Camille Claudel and Rodin.
The reading of these passionate and dramatic letters made me literally fall in love with Camille Claudel. Touched to the core of my being, with tears in my eyes, I decided to create a series inspired by this story by imagining a relationship between an artist and his muse. To do this I shared with the model the writings of the lovers. I posted them in the studio when we were making this series. No doubt somewhere Camille saw us. I hope so.
"I sleep naked to make me believe that you are there
but when I wake up, it's not the same.
I kiss you.
Camille.
Above all, don't cheat on me again."

Artists create images that will undoubtedly evoke emotions, and if nothing else, inspire. The many strategically placed textures, colors, themes, and beautifully arranged compositions are exactly the things that captivate and stun an audience. Isshogai, does just that... He has an affinity for unique shots, and a devotion to capture life, that no other artist possesses. from Parisian luxury hotels to Jamaican slums. He has been developing his own style for several years, mixing an expressionism Burtonian light with a hands-on approach inspired by impressionists like Monet or Johan Barthold Jongkind: everything which is made directly in situ vibrates with an intensity which is impossible to reproduce in a studio.
Isshogai enjoys saying that a dress is not made to live in front of a white wall, but to accompany the woman throughout her life. The act of taking a photograph is there, to demonstrate a moment of life of this wonderful duo. Everything is summed up in the literal translation of his name: Isshogai means “for the life”.
This truely gifted photographer draws his inspiration from children’s stories, movies, and his own life full of incredible adventures. Like many artists, to know Isshogai, is to know and love his artwork. He says that, "a photographer always pours his mind into his work"– and who better to do so than a hopeless romantic, an intuitive, soft, and sensible man, and one with a crazy streak every now and again?
