Part of series "Covered by forest"
Covered by Forest - Nature in People, People in Nature examines northern nature and people as a part of it. People and nature mirror each other in multidimensional ways in the works. The nude human body becomes a part of the landscape that simultaneously represents the vast broadness of the horizon and the density of the forest. This series of works brings out the vulnerable beauty in both northern nature and in people. The harmony between nature and people as well as the strangeness and detachment are represented. "Metsänpeitto", a term from Finnish folklore, refers to a magical state that one can end up in while wandering in the forest. The silent forest surrounds the person who starts to resemble a rock or a tree stump. An atmosphere of the invisible, hidden, silent nature of humanity and nature is thus apparent in the series.
