TITLE: Guardian of Abandoned
In Iran, there are almost as many unfinished constructions as there are successful projects due to the fragile economy. This kind of Architectural project is usually left alone for many years and the construction began to decay over time.
The shown picture demonstrates an underground of an abandoned hotel in kish Island, IRAN. It is hard to recognize zones of space because it’s a large empty underground covered with concrete.
There was a massive influence around the shown area which was directing the natural light from the upper level to beneath the ground level. The area with the shape of a triangle seems to be one of the circulation points of the building. The leading line of ceiling alongside the natural light gave a strong sense of the place. The layer that one day would be hidden behind interior features holds a sophisticated atmosphere.
The only resident of such an unfinished building is Afghan refugees, which sentry on the structure for a low pay wage just to survive. The man inside the image documents one of those guardians of abandoned places. By incorporating the human element, a dark approach has been demonstrated in the relationship between humans and the built environment.
