TITLE: TRASHUMANCIA
The "trashumancia" (engl. “transhumance”) is a thousand-year-old method of livestock farming. Sheep are driven north from Andalusia and Extremadura. When the vegetation in the lowlands has already dried up due to the summer heat, the last stop is the mountain pastures of the Pyrenees.
The photos show the hike from the Valle de Benasque (Benasque Valley) to just below the Puerto de Benasque, a mountain pass in the Posets-Maladeta Nature Park/Pyrenees/Aragon/Spain, at almost 2500 meters above sea level.
