TITLE: Saddapind
This is a love letter to my mother's land & the motherland of my ancestors. Originally, we went back to India for my grandfather's funeral. After the funeral, I decided to go see the rest of India with the remaining time I had there. Two weeks. In two weeks' time, my uncle, mother, & I traveled from West India all the way to East India & back to West India.
But only one photograph here was taken in East India. It's the photograph of a Muslim lady. All you can see are the eyes, but even those are blacked out in the photograph. That's what I love about photography - it's the air of mystery surrounding an image. Especially without the context, it becomes something else in the mind's eye of the viewer. To keep it short, I was severely disappointed to see the state East India is in. For many reasons. So, we turned back on the road, back to our little village. That is exactly why this photo series is titled 'Saddapind' - it means 'Our Village'.

Photography is my passion and has been for as long as I can remember. It’s quite scary sharing my work with the world, but it would truly be selfish if I kept it to myself.
What you see is what you get. The collection of photographs in my portfolio showcase what I captured in the past decade. Photography allows us to explore our identity. It doesn’t matter if you know all the secrets to the world or nothing at all – photography is a fun game that validates the child inside us all. It’s only a matter of picking up a camera and going out there to explore – both yourself and the world!
