TITLE: WILD UNFREE
American Mustangs are being brutally removed from their wild homes in record numbers - the terror is evident, but still wild at the very moment of freedom lost
AUTHOR: Scott Wilson (United States)
I am a Colorado-based Landscape and Wildlife Photographer of 25 years. I was a multi-year finalist in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year (2012-2015), named Denver Instagrammer of the Year by Westword Magazine in 2017, awarded Colorado Life Magazine's Wildlife Image of the Year in 2018, earned Colorado Outdoors Photography Edition cover image in 2019; took Best in Show at the 2020 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo; Judge's Choice in the 2021 NANPA (North American Nature Photographers Association) Awards; won the Natural World & Wildlife Award at the 2022 World Photography Awards and was named 2022 Open Photographer of the Year in the same competition, from 170,000 entries. I closely follow ‘the wild ones’ that roam Sand Wash Basin, in northwest Colorado. Indeed it was a black and white image of a wild mustang stallion kicking up a dust-storm which earned the aforementioned 2022 World Photography Awards. My work has featured in local, national and international media, including the BBC, Daily Telegraph, Nat Geo España, GQ Italia, Advanced Photographer, Denver Post, 5280, 303, Westword and Colorado Life Magazine.
