TITLE: Experiencing through the four elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire in Stromboli.

At the end of may 2022, on Stromboli Island, a fire broke out that devastated the trees and the Mediterranean scrub, threatening the homes of the inhabitants. On august, the heavy rains, with the absence of vegetation, caused mudslides in the streets and small streets of the island, causing serious damage. The island experiences a delicate balance with the natural elements and the human being presence.

1. In Stromboli traditional fishing is still practiced on small boats with small nets and traps for shrimps
2. Before sunrise, the fishermen drag the small boats into the sea by sliding them on wooden planks. Fishing begins.
3. In Stromboli, the four natural elements (fire, earth, air and water) blend together creating peculiar landscapes and influencing the life on the island.
4. A fisherman cleans a ray fish to sell it on the little harbor. His beard mingles with the clouds.
5. Stromboli is an island with an active volcano (which the few inhabitants call "Iddu" - meaning "him") where life is deeply linked to the natural elements.
6. Before sunrise, a fisherman gets on his boat to start the day of fishing.
7. Fishermen's hands remind me signs of erosion by rain on the vulcano mountain.
8. I'm fascinated by trying to capture the feelings of the people who live in the shadow of the volcano.
