TITLE: Kinbaku-bi
Kinbaku-bi, the beauty of tight binding. This kind of Japanese bondage is admired for both its aesthetic appeal and its sexual appeal. The technique has its origins in the feudal Edo Period, but was not a sexualized art form until the twentieth century.
AUTHOR: Rebekah Ryan (Australia)
My name is Rebekah Ryan and I call South Australia my home. I been lucky enough to have travelled throughout Australia and beyond after growing up in Sydney. My interest in photography was unintentionally sparked by my grandmother when I was a child, but it wasn't until I took some landscape shots in my 20s that I fell in love with it. Life took me in a different direction for a while, and it wasn't until I was in my 30s that I found myself in front of the camera, and shortly after that I began shooting once more with renewed enthusiasm. As a child, I was a dancer who eventually transitioned into performing. My affinity for the performing arts has never diminished. Art has been my sanctuary from life's turbulence. I like shooting a variety of subjects, from portraits to landscapes, but my favourite is capturing live performances. I love working with the interplay between light and shadow, whether with natural light or stage lighting.
