TITLE: Spell
Inspired by early-20th century storybook illustrations, this series evokes the romantic Pictorial narrative of the spellbound creature, but in a contemporary setting. The foreboding and unkempt trees, branches, and weeds contrast against the glow of our protagonist.
AUTHOR: Maxwell N (United States)
Maxwell N is a visual artist, photographer, writer, and musician currently based in central Texas. His work seeks to enunciate the feeling of the ethereal moment between waking and sleeping, where all reality and dreams merge into abstract possibilities. Pointing out these spaces in-between, Maxwell creates art inspired by 19th and 20th century Pictorialism and fine arts movements, but re-imagined in a contemporary, modern setting.
Maxwell spent his early youth between the Middle East and South Asia, and his adult life between California and Texas. He was self-taught out of necessity in his early days, but later studied fine art photography and art history.
