TITLE: Another world
The photo was taken with an analog camera and the film was scanned. The photo shows the boys in a spaceship in the middle of a crowded square in the city center. The shiny material of the spacecraft contrasts with the rest of the luminous structure, which gives the image dynamics. The title of the photograph is 'another world' - as children, we can forget about the reality around us and a simple frame with a piece of material is enough to set off on an unknown journey to another planet. The boys are contrasted with the surroundings of adults in dark colors - who may have long forgotten what creativity is and what role it plays in life - everyone around them is chasing everyday matters. Boys look at them and at me as if we are from the foreign planet - they don't understand our reality of adults.
AUTHOR: Anna Kozendra (Poland)
My name is Anna Kozendra. I’m a photographer based in Cracow in Poland. I finished two years of photography school yet I’m self-taught since the early years of my life. I photograph various subjects using digital and analog cameras. For me, photography is very personal, it works like auto-therapy. It's a space where I can be open with my feelings and thoughts. Most people describe my work as very dark and disturbing. It is a depth somewhere in every human being, an integral part of our soul, that should find its outlet somewhere. The dark side of ourselves can be also very interesting and beautiful. I'm inspired by Polish photographers like Zbigniew Dłubak, Anita Andrzejewska or Andrzej Różycki. Their photos deal with existential topics and are very abstract. I'm also trying to work in a similar way to always leave room for viewers to think and interpret it in their own way. The image that we see can evoke different emotions in each viewer and move stories that are only parts of something hidden deep inside. I hope and wish my photography work in a similar way.
