TITLE: Mavis
An image from my work titled, 'The Lunch Club'. Modern day society stands on the shoulders of the older generation. This project is what I believe a representation of elderly people should be- showing the beauty of the ‘golden years’ which I have experienced within the moorland star community centre, where people come together three days a week to eat lunch and play bingo.
At the centre, I was struck by the sense of family which exists amongst the members. I was immediately treated by them like a grandchild might be. This has allowed me to create strong relationships, which has been instrumental in creating intimate and conversational portraits.
