TITLE: The New Normal?
Beginning in March 2020, I wanted to capture the impact of COVID-19 on life, especially in adapting to the "new normal." Thus, using 35mm Ilford film, I began to photograph previously bustling spaces that were left near-deserted during the pandemic, even as the world was supposed to return to normal. I then photographed headlines from the height of the pandemic, capturing these feelings of disconcertedness and isolation, and sandwiched the negatives of the text and photographs in a glass negative carrier, giving the illusion of haunting memories. This project was shot and printed completely on film and no manipulation using photoshop was done.
