TITLE: Meandering
After hiking up to Haystacks, I descended via the path that leads down to Warnscale bottom, leaving Fleetwith Pike for another time. The sun had already dipped behind the fells and even though I still had many steps to get back to Buttermere via Gatesgarth farm, these beautiful bends in Warnscale Back caught my attention.
Compositionally speaking it was important to me to make sure the water entered from the bottom left corner of the square shot and left from the top right, basically lining the water up diagonally across the frame. I made use of the RF 70-200 (at 142mm), making use of a higher (ISO 2000) ISO for this handheld shot as the daylight was fading fast... (camera settings: 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 2000)
I must admit I didn't make up my mind in the field whether I would process this as a color or monochrome image, but once at home for post-processing I quickly decided on treating the shot as monochrome, to underline the graphic nature of the river crossing through the land.
