TITLE: Good Hopes
A small human figure stands alone at the mercy of the elements, barely balanced upon the dark abyss below where a distant shore foams in the shadow. A dramatic sky darkens under the weight of the storms to come. A sense of uncertainty lingers and permeates everything suggesting the condition of us, sentient and self-aware mortal beings.
A plunge, a dive, this is what is passing through the mind of the subject of this photo while standing on the edge of that cliff. It's a strong pull towards the void, towards the annihilation of suffering and the terrible weight of his head. It weighs on his shoulders more than a basalt idle but it constitutes a stronger and harder bond: reason of awareness.
The photo was taken at Faroe Islands, on Selberg Cliffs (Sorvagur).
AUTHOR: Nicola Belotti (Italy)
I've been passionate and devoted to photography since 2008. I was just a child and they gave me a little camera so I started capturing details of my little world, ignored shadows and tiny exixtences.
I was a lonesome quiet kid always focused on the secret nature of my experience.
Since then I started growing slowly and experimenting different photographic styles and themes.
I try to travel as much as I can to expand my inner borders and see what's out of them.
I'm no artist, I am just another witness of the unravelling reality.
