TITLE: Armagedoon
While creating this photo, I was under the vague excitement of the ongoing war crimes in Ukraine. I really want to believe that everyone who is behind this war will be punished, everyone who brought death to the Ukrainian people will suffer the most severe punishments both on earth and in the other world.
AUTHOR: Elli Asker (Sweden)
Based in Sweden. I have lived and worked in Spain, Russia and the USA and combine travel with a passion for photography. I studied with Dimitri Bogachuk at Kiev's School of Photography, in the Ukraine, and completed a BA in Political Science at Södertörn University, Sweden. I am an advocate for the positive influence which creative practice can have. My own story is one of immigration prompted by traumatic persecution in my home country and photography has been a way to cope with anxiety and the effects of PTSD.
My photographs are influenced by both classical cinema and painting, reflecting the color fields of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Expressionist artists along with the sophisticated aesthetics of directors such as Tarkovsky, Bergman, Fellini and Almodovar. In my work I seek to create photographs that can communicate the emotion associated with our shared experiences, building a connection with the viewer.
