TITLE: Never the same
Beirut, November 2021.
One year and three months following the explosion of the port, a country spirals to oblivion. Beirut is a new city, a city without joy, a city full of dread. Hope is in struggle with the Sea and its defeat looms in every corner of a city whose buildings, roads and windows look upon that which brought the death of a people.
"The beauty of the sidewalk is the beauty of the soul.
Keep it clean.
The municipality of Beirut"
AUTHOR: Sabine el khoury (France)
I'm an architect by training currently residing in Paris, France and a reluctant immigrant, product of the failed Lebanese state. My preferred medium of work is black and white film. I like to experiment with the fragility of light and its emergence from the lack of it.
