TITLE: The Face of Homelessness
I live in a nice neighborhood in a prosperous city. There is a park one half block from my house with a beautiful lake with a walkway around it which fills up with visitors walking, skating and riding their bikes. It has also become the temporary home for a large number of homeless people. The juxtaposition of the two groups has created tension. Many of the people who come to enjoy a few hours on their days off resent the homeless population.
I wanted to put a face on these people who don't have the minimal comforts the rest of us enjoy. Hopefully it will help others see them as human beings like them, just not as fortunate.

I've been taking photographs off and on for over 50 years. In the good old days of film I shot only black and white and loved to work in the darkroom. I'm now firmly in the 21st century and have only shot digital for years. My favorite subject is people but love the drama of black and white in landscape, architecture etc. This will be my first photo contest.
