TITLE: Nomandic living on water ecosystem
Over the past 4 years, I have been doing a series of photos about the lives of nomadic fishermen on Tuyen Lam Lake, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam. In the midst of modern and busy life with bustling and colorful cities, there are still people who prefer a nomadic, solitary life in remote areas like in the mountains, in the forest, on a large lake or off the island…
They live nomadic around the lake, fishing with their own traditional, primitive, handmade fishing nets. They use fish to exchange food for living, and their children are also born and live floating on fish rafts in large rivers and lakes. I have talked with them a few times and learned about their lives. They can't keep up with the modern way of life, have no education, no knowledge, no land to cultivate, no property and necessities to secure a life, that's why they choose to live a nomadic life, almost isolated from society, relying on nature to make a living. The main reason is probably the disparity between the rich and the poor, inequality and rapid development in developing countries.
However, on the positive side, their rudimentary tools are environmentally friendly, preserving the ecosystem along with an active, comfortable, free, safe, and blended lifestyle with peaceful nature. I like that when I'm not really liking the dust, noise, and concrete blocks in the city.
The series is about a blend of traditional fishing, people, wetlands, and natural freshwater ecosystems. Through the set of photos, we feel the life of the natural environment, the source of water that creates human life. Let's protect our environment.
AUTHOR: Khanh Bui Phu (Viet Nam)
My name is Bui Phu Khanh (writing style of Vietnamese)
I am working and live in Vietnam, an extremely beautiful country with unique traditional culture, heroic history, and friendly people located in Southeast Asia. Currently, I am a freelance photographer, I also set up a couple of concepts in wedding studios.
Photography has changed my whole and I am very thankful for that. Photography is my hobby, I like to shoot landscapes and capture culture and traditions. Simply catching a smile, a life moment or the miracles of mother nature is a blessing to me. What is more wonderful is to share with others about my passion and to introduce the image of my country's culture, traditions, people, and landscape to friends around the world.
