TITLE: Anima Queer
Anima Queer es un proyecto fotográfico de autorretrato y retrato, que pretende buscar, una estética diferente a esa tendencia “gay” de imágenes icónicas, provenientes del culto al cuerpo y el neoplatonismo. En un mundo tan cosificado por la apariencia de un gusto por la musculatura, debido principalmente a esa cultura del gimnasio de los setenta o los ochenta o lo supra masculino que podemos observar en ilustraciones de Tom Finland como respuesta a la intolerancia, pretendo mostrar una belleza muy diferente, distinta, haciendo hincapié en los cuerpos naturales. La pornografía también ha influido hasta cierto punto en el exceso de los cánones, los roles y la homofobia o la plumofobia siguen estando presentes tanto en el ámbito heterosexual como el homosexual. El sexo está muy mitificado hasta tal punto que se ha perdido su significado como experiencia o encuentro, desvirtuando el papel de los emociones. Por eso, mis imágenes pretenden ante todo, restituir el valor de la ternura, la sensualidad, el erotismo frente a lo pornográfico pero sin negar su cualidad dentro de la cultura gay, pues entiendo que estas fotografías están más relacionadas con el sentido “queer”, por mostrar una iconografía diferente, equidistante de la cosificación normalizada y recurrente.
La serie se ha ido ampliando en el tiempo, con distintos modelos y Kimonos, usando la luz natural y sin complejos complementos fotográficos como flashes o ventanas, salvo un postigo por donde entran los rayos del sol. Cada una de estas sesiones ha sido una experiencia nueva y diferente con mis modelos, siempre interactuando y conectando con la emotividad y la sensualidad.

I have a degree in Art History from the ULL, an expert in Cultural Management from UC3M, curator of exhibitions and artistic photographer. I learned digital photography in a private school in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and I have received classes with artists like Antoine d'Agata, Federico Claverino and some local artists like Ricardo Motesdeoca, Lorena Morin, etc.
In January of this year, I participated in the First Meeting of Contemporary Art in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with my Project Room "Queer Ontology". In April, I exhibited an image of my project "My inner world" at the Brussels Photography Festival organized by Hangar, within the call on confinement "The World within". Last year, I carried out a project entitled "Anima Mundi", subsidized by the Government of the Canary Islands. Similarly, I obtained an award for my video performance "Masks" in the First Videperformance Program of the CAAM (Atlantic Center of Modern Art)
I had an individual exhibition entitled "Anina Mundi" at the Saro León Gallery in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in February 2020. I participated in the "Anima Mundi" Biennial organized by Its Liquid Group in Venice, November 2019. I have participated twice in the Biennial "Fotonoviembre" - Canary Islands, Tenerife, Spain- in Collective Atlantic, in 2013 with my project "Vanitas" and in 2017, with "Noli me tangere", a set of self-portraits. Also, I have participated in several groups of pinhole photography, made throughout the island of Gran Canaria. I teach classes on visual culture and self-portrait to new photographers privately and in photography schools such as Espacio La Lente. Last year I published my first story book titled "Amores Ciegos" by Editorial El Drago, with many references to photography and visual memory.
In 2016, I commissioned and participated in a collective photographic exhibition in the capital, held at the S / T Gallery, entitled "Still Life, Vanitas". Also, I exhibited at the Pinhole World Photography Day celebrated in Santa Lucía de Tirajana. , twice, 2016 and 2017. In the year 2017, I made a photographic workshop for the Refugee Center (CEAR) organized by the CAAM and the La Caixa Foundation. In October 2017, at the Faculty of Communication and Language of the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, I collaborated in a seminar called Reconciliation in Semillero "Speeches and Practices of Reconciliation", with a perfomatic photographic experience. I was a finalist in the Photography Biennial of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2018. The last year, Monovision awarded me an honorable mention with my series on landscapes "Onmipresence".
