TITLE: Shorelines
This series is an exploration of the various areas of shoreline across the southern edge of Toronto and Georgian Bay and the interplay between the environmental elements.
AUTHOR: Rick Bogacz (Canada)
Based in Toronto, I specialize in fine art black and white landscape, minimalist abstract and street photography. After a few years working as a journalist in Canada, I returned to school full-time to study photography at Humber College. Following my graduation I worked as a freelance photographer and writer. I then landed roles in online editorial content with such organizations as AOL, CBC, Quebecor Media and Microsoft.
My main influences are James Nachtwey, Mary Ellen Mark, Irving Penn, the painters Edward Hopper, Christopher Pratt and sculptor Donald Judd.
I try to adhere to an essentialist philosophy when photographing subject matter, removing what I feel is unnecessary information in order to get to the core elements within the frame.
