TITLE: Hutomanipulation / Rhythms
Hutomanipulation is a big project in which I tried to show, describe and create an image of a place that is very dear to me - Nowa Huta. It’s a place where I grew up and where I live now.
Hutomanipulation / Rhythms is a series of 8 photographs made in the gum bichromate prints.
The main driving force here was the architecture of the Nowa Huta (especially the oldest part). I wanted to create forms, places and spaces that never did not exist, mixing places that were distant from each other, or creating an axis of symmetry where there is none. I was strongly convinced that these should be black and white images, with strong blacks. For this series, I chose a single-layer bichromate rubber, using carbon black as the pigment. I really wanted the paintings to be dirty, a bit industrial. That the character of the place and architecture would be enhanced by the way of manipulation and a strong layer of soot.
