TITLE: Subway Series
In this series of Large Format Black & White Photographs, I strip away the routine distractions of color, people, and the subway trains themselves to create an abstracted, visually powerful reality. In these controlled compositions, I isolate the superfluous elements and focuses attention on the raw strength of the Subway System’s Architecture.

My work explores structures, lighting, and space. An accomplished architect by trade, my photography conveys a sense of still majesty, and beautifully captures complex emotions in a still image.
In this series of Large Format Black & White Photographs, I strips away the routine distractions of color, people, and the subway trains themselves to create an abstracted, visually powerful reality. In these controlled compositions, I isolates the superfluous elements and focuses attention on the raw strength of the Subway System’s Architecture.
My attention to light and shadow highlights the intricate/detailed/complicated Infrastructure of the Subway System: steel columns and beams held together with rivets; concrete floor slabs with beams; arches; valves; miles of pipes, wiring and lighting, etc. Onto this structure/skeleton, we see the addition of the aesthetic elements, ceramic and mosaic tiles, which distinguish the various Stations. Additionally, there are the rhythmic patterns of guardrails, handrails, and steps, which suggest the dynamic flow of these otherwise inhabited spaces.
