TITLE: Photogram 011c
The idea of a cliche verre photogram on photosensitive paper is based on fusing gesture with light. In this way, the hand movement required to prepare the negative becomes important again in the process of creating a photograph. The fragility of light combined with a gesture result in the presentation of an image shrouded in a threatening aura of destruction. These images can be both fearful and reassuring. They are both scenes of violence and the delicacy of light. The light recording is also the shadow recording. It can therefore be said that while light is a condition for the visibility of things, its closeness causes them to acquire a new meaning, their meaning is transformed. The intertwining of gesture and light creates a sui generis form of temporality, in which this gesture acquires a permanent, frozen character like a fossil.
