TITLE: Trust I Am Feeding You
'Trust I Am Feeding You' is Eunji's first major retrospective and personal repertoire of images of her dreams and conflicts, representing a time of reckoning. A study of mannerism to surrealism, where her interests lie in ephemerality and entropy, faced with the problem of drawing attention to the present tense through people and places, a second chance at the past, of what is meant to capture the moment, the impact and pursuit of time, that everything is in all things.
There is more than first meets the eye. One glance may suffice to take in the photo, but not to exhaust it. There is something else insistently present - in it, behind it, beside it. Something that eludes us, something that remains concealed. A strain of esotericism runs through almost of all images, minute-long exposures captured on film, on a leica, of the landscapes while light scythed across it in the distance. The pictures' are spare and pared down, these pictures show us moments invisible to the eye - distilled into movement, the sheer linearity of speed. These shadowy spatial matters aside, what the pictures evoke, above all, is an expense of infinitude, a rapacious boundlesness, void of horizons, void of recognizable objects, void.
My process, intention and ideas are inspired by the people I meet, who make me feel the most alive. Reliant on time and trust, a 'pas de deux' between the artist and the object of their attention. Art is like having a conversation. This work is very interactive. I have learned that art should not. 'just please the eye' but 'rip open your mindset' and the spirit of art and this series is tp express the truth.
