TITLE: Testimony of the past
Past It is always embedded in the ‘now’ and considered when thinking of the future. There is a liminal moment that exists where the present becomes the past. It then becomes history, often remembered in an idealized way through the phenomenon of nostalgia. With these series of photos past intersects with the present and I have examined the past of few generations through narratives of the present generations.
At the very entrance of the village Tashmarunista, Macedonia your view is seduced by a remains of yellow house that proudly stands on the highest point of the village. The house was built in the earlies 1900 however there is no exact year. Owned by Mitre and Vangjelka Avramoski who had 4 children, two daughters and two sons.
This house was witness of many generations that grew up here. The house was place of joy, special, it hid something specific as it was described to me by the grandson. Due to a combination of circumstances it was not possible to save the house and unfortunately today remains only as a silent witness of the past. As described by the grandson every visit to this place evokes great memories and fills their eyes with tears and arouses strong emotions in everyone. The grandchildren's desire is to renovate the house to be what was previously full of life and love. To drink coffee again under the walnut tree to enjoy the view and to tell about the life of their grandparents.
