TITLE: Connections
This series is from my time in a rural village in Rajasthan, India.
During my stay as I walked the dirt streets ,my camera in hand, where goats and cows roamed free, I was struck by the direct gaze and ready smiles I was greeted with by the villagers. While they looked upon me with curiosity, they seemed to invite me into their world, proud to let me into their lives and display their way of life. Despite a language barrier, and a differing world experience, each encounter was a genuine and meaningful human connection. None of the villagers shied away from me, in fact I was invited into their homes, offered local tea and had my own photograph taken in one instance by a group of schoolchildren whose teacher had a camera.
The warmth and openness of character of the villagers was displayed at every turn while I politely asked if I could photograph them. There was a genuine connection between us that while fleeting was nevertheless heart warming. It spoke of a world in which people can come together despite their differences and look upon each other with empathy and understanding.
My memories of these welcoming and open people left an indelible impression on my soul and I hope that this series of photographs serves to showcase that most positive side of humanity.

I am an avid but not professional photographer. The focus of my practice is street photography, travel photography and portraits. I have studied photography at the college level and while my profession is as a lawyer, I am deeply interested in people and character and seek to depict human connections and unexpected connections in my photography.
