TITLE: Insomnium
Insomnium (In- ingressive prefix) word that comes from Latin that and its primitive meaning refers to dreaming. This seeks the balance between our logical and conscious half with our other unconscious half, where irrational images are reproduced that seek the balance and totality of our being.
Reading each image separately has a rational meaning, by joining them in the form of a diptych we create a visual imaginary where both polarities coexist.
According to Jung, the dream is a spontaneous and symbolic self-interpretation of the unconscious. The life of man is full of polarities: day and night, birth and death, joy and suffering, and there is no assurance that one of the opposites will triumph over the other; This is a continuous struggle in which the human being finds himself.
I interpret my photographic archive as the blurred memories that are part of dreams. Small fragments forgotten in different time and places that meet each other, forming images that lead us to paradox, awakening the primitive senses and revealing the hidden part of our being, creating a direct connection between both worlds, the conscious and the unconscious.
AUTHOR: Jonathan Faus (Spain)
From the beginning my work takes the city as the main stage, on which I try to represent different stories. Inadvertent moments to which to give a second reading, cities from different parts of the world to let me surprise or the most everyday moments that constantly surround me.
In 2017, after completing the project creation course at EfedePhoto and different workshops with David Jiménez, Navia or Julián Barón, I became interested in the development of more personal projects, where my immediate surroundings and my interior concerns take center stage.
