TITLE: Spiral Staircases
Over the last few years I travelled frequently to London and had the opportunity to visit many of the beautiful spiral staircases. I love architecture and in particular, interiors and staircases, for their geometric and abstract look and also because the outcome of the photoshoot is independent of the weather. The first two photos are from the CitizenM Bankside Hotel - one angled view and one straight up view. The third is the Tulip Staircase at Queens House, Greenwich, and the last image is one of the three staircases at the Newport Street Gallery. I took these handheld in low light with Canon bodies and lenses, and converted them into black and white to bring out the details and give a more abstract and cohesive look. At these locations and many others, photography was allowed and encouraged, although sometimes a security check was required, or the camera bag had to be put in a locker whilst in the building.
