TITLE: In the Floodplains
Floodplains are landscapes in which nature and humans interact in a special way. They are disappearing more and more. Especially in times of climate change, floodplains are infinitely important for changing water levels of rivers. My pictures show these landscapes from my special point of view. I take pictures in long exposure and with panorama technique. During each exposure, the camera is moved in a defined way. The pictures in this series of a flooded Rhine floodplain in winter consist of up to 30 individual images. Due to the long exposure time, an overall image contains different light conditions and movements of the trees. Nature helps to shape the image through light, clouds and wind. By moving the camera during exposure, the trees stretch towards the sky. Water, plants, trees and sky flow into each other. In this way I want to make visible the constant changes of such a floodplain landscape with flooding and drying. By showing the beauty of this landscape, I want to contribute to the preservation of this wonderful landscape. The images are minimally processed in brightness and contrast and are stitched together level by level in such a way that the natural changes between the images are taken into account.
