This photograph is a reflection upon the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Stigma occurs when society labels someone as tainted or less desirable. The public stigma is the reaction the general population has to people with mental illness. Self-stigma is the prejudice which people with mental illness turn against themselves.
The stigmas and labels can often make people suffering from mental illness feel like they are being trapped and restrained both by society and themselves.
Labels that surrounds mental illness are words such as crazy and unreliable.
