TITLE: Above the Clouds

I took this picture during my holiday in Switzerland in December 2019. I have visited Switzerland more than 3 times during my childhood, and since then I have always wanted to come back to take beautiful images of the Alps, especially the Matterhorn. This picture was taken at the same time and location I was taking pictures of the Matterhorn. While taking pictures of the Matterhorn, I turned around and saw this beautiful view of a church above the clouds and decided to take a panoramic photo of the scenery. This is one of the most memorable photography moments - standing still and alone for more than an hour, above the clouds, at freezing temperature, peacefully and quietly watching the clouds and light dancing around the Matterhorn at sunset. I took this image using my telephoto lens in order to get a very detailed image of the mountains, clouds, and church. I took multiple images and merge them in post-processing in order to get this panoramic view. The picture is rendered in black and white to focus on the main objects (church and clouds with snowy mountains as background) and convey a sense of peace and tranquility to the audiences.

I love photography that shows a different point of view from what we see in daily lives. I am always impressed by how beautiful black and white pictures can emphasize a certain aspect of the composition, lighting, and feeling. I also love macro photography for its vibrant color and beautiful details of tiny objects that we normally cannot see with our eyes.
