HONORABLE MENTION

TITLE: Matter of belief
Do you need to see it before you believe it, or is seeing just a result of believing? People can do amazing things, but how many great acts remain undone because of lack of belief?
The image visualizes the subconscious sense of belief. It is shot through a glass covered with a plastic film.

FINLAND
Anni Laukka (born 1982 in Kokkola, Finland) is a visual artist who exhibit her work actively. All of her works are based in photography, even though often the final expression transforms to paintings, installations, fine art prints and sculptures. The works of Laukka emphasize humanity and emotions. Sometimes she feels that she just have to scream out her opinion and express her point of view of matters that are important to her. She then works with the form of art that she feels is most suitable to transmit her message with. Laukka really enjoys the kinds of projects where the only boundary is the imagination. She discloses matters that easily remain unnoticed in everyday life and invites the spectators to a discussion with the work. Her works deliberately leave room for the viewers own interpretation. Laukka says that "art is at it's best when it awakens new views on matters or finish up a thought or an opinion that has unconsciously been growing inside the head”.
