TITLE: Maslenitsa
Maslenitsa (Shrovetide) is an ancient Slavic holiday of seeing off winter, which is accompanied by the burning of a giant scarecrow, symbolizing winter. In this series, we see how the ancient pagan traditions that arose long before the advent of Christianity in Russia, still pass into new generations as a cultural heritage. Outside the big modern cities, in the quietness of small historic villages the celebrations of Maslenitsa often take place in very mystic and pretty wild way.
