TITLE: In the classroom
In the remote villages of Nepal’s Solukhumbu District, daily life can be a struggle. Acquiring an education remains a dream for many. But in some communities, thanks to investment in education—by local communities, parents and teachers, and by locally based NGOs—children are learning and building for a better tomorrow. When I traveled in Solukhumbu, I found children eager to learn, despite rudimentary conditions. Teachers were eager to apply new techniques and willing to tutor students on their own time. Above all, the students’ bright faces and enthusiasm showed they are ready for a new bright future.
