TITLE: Pueblo Juanillo: Behind the Resort
Pueblo Juanillo is a small settlement just a few steps away from one of the most luxurious private developments in the Caribbean. It is a little village built to host the local workers. Unpaved, with no garbage collection services, with an abandoned one teacher school for the kids, electricity cuts, under a killer sun, stands a ghost town where time stopped and the inhabitants rest between their largely underpaid working shifts of 10 to 14 hours of gardening, security, or cleaning, in an area that costs an average of 500 to 1500 US$ per hotel night.
