TITLE: The Marine' souls
Photographer for fifteen years, has undoubtedly kept his child's soul, but it was above all as a man of the sea that he saw, in Atlantic ocean, what Leonardo da Vinci would have encountered in "soiling". What we called "inventions" in the 15th century would be called today pareidolies.
The ocean, he has always lived it. He approaches poetry, dangers, brutality and language. He also feels, from Anglet where he settled for twenty years, when the swell will offer, against the cliffs of Cap Saint Martin, these "Marine's souls" as he calls them, the ones that arise waves and rocks.
With one click, Grégoire reveals, in what could seem to us to be only the beautiful spectacle of the raging elements, a whole other adventure.
An inner adventure, ours, the very one that delights us or us breeze, when, beyond the facts, we start to anticipate, interpret, imagine…
Because much more than a purely aesthetic cliché, which we could already largely satisfied, the artist, composes with form and background. Blurring the tracks, it shifts and overturns horizons, affirms contrasts, flirts with the abstract ... And it takes us where we didn’t expect not at all !
Les Ames Marines, The Marines's souls are not just the wonderful notes of a symphony
aquatic. They are "our soul in the mirror", the facets multiples of our own feelings, with our contradictions, our joys,
our fantasies too.
This is why, during exhibitions, if the author offers a title for each of his works, he voluntarily chooses to hide the name, so that everyone, freely and without a net, agrees to confront each other, or no, to his own imagination.
What do I see ? Who am I ?
