TITLE: Material Talk
Material Talk
Buildings are sculptures made of stone, bronze, iron or glass. Through my photographic vision materials are expressed in the abstract take on yet another dimension in form. Exploring the character of each element and combining natural textures great architects create details that transform into art.
No matter how abstract a photographic image there remains a connection to something that exists yet experienced in an unintended way. Each specific frame is of reference to elements found in the world we live. This is the nature of my photographic point of view.
My work is a recollection of my passages, which capture impressive encounters of the surroundings - architectural elements, distinctive trees and natural landscapes - appealing to me at the right moment and place.
"Awai", an ancient word of "Ma" in Japanese, has multiple meanings including timing, distance, space and balance. When it comes together I get the cue. Those photographic images are my drawing materials to unveil precious reminiscences.
