Born in Genoa, Italy in 1989, Federico Imperiale is a photographer and music composer currently based in Los Angeles.
After starting his studies in Cinema while accomplishing his first projects as filmmaker music composer, in 2014 Federico decided to dedicate his career to photography full time, deepening his technical skills and pursued a personal study of Minor White’s work and theoretical writings and Roland Barthes’ studies on the photographic image.
These studies were later formalized with a M.A. graduate thesis at IULM University titled “Narration and Sequence in the Photography of the XXth Century”,written under the mentoring of the photographer Giovanni Chiaramonte.
After working two years as a photographer as well as reaching the Italian national scene as a music composer with the original soundtracks for the movie Per un Figlio and the theatrical comedy Qualche Volta Scappano, he moved to Los Angeles where in May 2018 he graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Photography at the New York Film Academy.
Federico currently works as unit still photographer on short and feature movies and continues to develop and promote his work as a fine art photographer.
