TITLE: Solitude
A shot of my dad doing what he loves most. He has been an avid umpire for years (little league through college ages). I finally got to shoot him working a game.
Instead of an action shot though, I’m submitting one of him between innings. Often umpires spend entire games getting criticism from players, coaches fans, etc. I felt this image was a perfect juxtaposition of all that. The brief moment of tranquility where he isn’t pressed to make a call, surrounded by players. Out of the action. The perfect state of ‘Solitude’.
Baseball has always been a common bond for my dad and I. So win or lose, picture will always mean a lot to me, and quickly became a favorite. I just had to share it.
Thank you.
