Bird of Paradise
This picture was taken on a late afternoon with the sun shining directly on a
Giant Bird of Paradise plant. The nearby Bougainvillea plants and a bird feeder
attracted many humming birds to feed on the blossoms. When the birds came
close to the big leaves, an accurate shadow of the animals could be imaged.
The picture was taken with a Nikon D800e coupled with a 300mm f/2.8 VR II lens.
Exposure was 1/1600sec at f 7.1 (ISO 1250).

and my first cameras were a Praktica L1 and a Minolta XE-1 - i.e. a long time ago.
I now specialize in outdoor and nature photography as well as underwaterphotography.
The goal of my photography is to not only visualize the beauty of the natural environment but also to
educate about the subjects I photograph.
