TITLE: Sotto Voce
Sometimes, hidden within a beautiful landscape, details which might have been easily ignored catch the eye and calls attention to themselves: shadow play, undulating levels and sinewy colours all contribute to create the dancing lights which can easily be missed unless one listens closely.
Vartiosaari feels like it’s somewhere deep in the countryside, where the natural landscape is still intact. The island is located in the inner archipelago of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
AUTHOR: Kirsi MacKenzie (Finland)
My work as a language teacher consists in trying to encourage and develop my students’ passion for languages. In my free time, I turn my focus to the study of forms and lines in nature.
During these past few years, I have developed my visual ability and have found my own photographic style while working with the different visual elements: form, color, movement and lines. I strive to create images which have an unreal and dreamlike atmosphere. An interesting and inviting composition makes a good image. I attempt to make the landscape photos as three dimensional as possible by including elements in the foreground, middle ground and background. I always try to find sight lines that could guide the viewer into the picture.
Intuition plays a large role in my photography. The location itself creates a certain mood.
