TITLE: Life of Uigurs in Kashgar
This series contains photos of my first visit of Xinjiang Province in China.
All photos are shot analogue with a Leica M4 camera on Ilford Delta 400 film.
The people of Xinjiang province, including about 13 mio. Uigurs are living under rough condition. Surveillance is everywhere, including jets flying through the air all day, id checks several hundret metres and face detection cameras everywhere. Shooting analog was kind of safer way to visit the region because also the SD-cards are checked and your photos might be deleted. In the photos you will see some of the daily life of the people such as being an actor in their own museum, playing with horses in front of han chinese population and visitors. Shaving the beard behind walls because it is not allowed for them to wear beard as sign of muslim believe. You will also see parts of the old/original oldtown of Kashgar, which is not destroyed and rebuilt yet. In the end, you will also visit the lifestock market near Kashgar which is also a place-to-be for the uigurs.
