TITLE: Orlando non sta più al Dosso (Orlando is no longer at Dosso)

The Law of Basaglia or Law 180 (Law Basaglia, Law 180) is the Italian law on mental health of 1978 that meant a great reform of the psychiatric system in Italy, contained directives for the closure of all psychiatric hospitals and led to their gradual replacement with a series of services based on community care homes, including settings for the care of patients with acute illnesses. The Basaglia law is the basis of Italian legislation on mental health. The main supporter of the law 180 and its architect was the Italian psychiatrist Franco Basaglia. Therefore, the law 180 is known as the "Basaglia Law" from the name of its promoter. The Italian Parliament approved law 180 on May 13th 1978, thus beginning the gradual dismantling of psychiatric hospitals. The implementation of the law on psychiatric reform was completed in 1998, which marked the end of the state psychiatric hospital system in Italy. The law has had an impact on the world level since other nations have widely adopted the Italian mode. The images presented were made at the reception facilities created for the former patients of the psychiatric hospital Dosso del Corso di Mantova.

I am an Italian photographer born in 1961 based in Brescia and I started taking my first photographs in the late 1980s and started taking photographs of musical, jazz, blues and rock concerts.
From the 1990s on, my attention also focused on social reportage, such as immigration, social disease conditions, social demonstrations.
I worked with national magazines, official photographer of events such as Bresciamusicart, Gardadanza international festival of contemporary dance and Rome film festival, I was lucky enough to direct a documentary-interview entitled "Confesso che ho vissuto" on the life of the art critic and protagonist of the war of resistance during World War II Raffaele De Grada.
Part of my work led to the creation of 3 books:
"Fuorionda,immagini di un movimento", a report in BW made during the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001
"S. Salvatore,dalla ricerca archeologica al restauro", a color documentation of the restoration work of the church of S. Salvatore in Rodengo Saiano (BS).
"Norcini", BW reporter on the life of farmers in the south Lake Garda area
Currently my work is mainly aimed at the realization of editorial projects.
