TITLE: Learning for Survival
I followed the steps of the non-profit association -Kusimayo- which has been working in the last decade with people in extreme poverty in the rural areas surrounding the Titicaca lake in Peru, at 4000 meters above sea level (13000 feet), and strives to make a difference in the quality of life of children and adults.
Among their different programs they manage in the region, there’s one where they provide to 350 children in preschool centres of 22 communities, daily breakfasts and hygiene supplies as well a sworkshops for mothers and teachers to make sure that all pre-‐schools have a water pump, a letrine, a stove & cooking gas, adequate furniture and infrastructure. Many of those kids have to walk kilometres in the most harsh geography, well below freezing temperature to get to school in order to brake the spiral of poverty.
