TITLE: "The sky over Sao Paulo" [orig. "O céu sobre Sao Paulo"]
After photographing the Dragqueen-scene in Sao Paulo (Brasil) in 2016, i went back there in 2018, focussing at the architectural sensation of this megacity, wich has doubled its inhabitants in the last 40 years. The side product of this permanent and uncontrolled growth, was the the formation of skyscraper canyons, which run through the whole city, reinforcing the impression of an urban jungle.
My goal was to capture this concentrated impression of an city without a sky, by doing double and fourfold multi exposure, turning the camera around ninety degree for each photo. The narrowed result reflects my sensation (and of other inhabitants) in Sao Paulo, which integrates the concrete nature in their daily view to the sky. The coarse-grained black and white photos are an urban/artistic experiment, which will be repeated in other metropolis of the world, to capture their (un-)personal touch of aesthetics.
