TITLE: The Mud
Every portrait I take has a set theme. The theme is based upon the sitter´s character and persona. The theme for this portrait is a paragraph, which perfectly describes the sitter´s thoughts on life, taken from Samuel Beckett´s poem How It Is. The paragraph reads - past moments old dreams back again or fresh like those that pass or things things always and memories I say them as I hear them murmur them in the mud. The theme is also based upon the conversations me and the sitter has had, which reflects upon life and how life seems to be an endless loop of dreams and past memories.
The splattered paint on the females face is representing the mud Beckett is referring to, and the mud is representing all the dreams and moments past that the sitter has had.
The portrait was taken on location/outdoors with the sun as the only light source.
